It's November already! The grade 4s and 5s have been busy prating for our Remembrance Day assembly this week. We have been talking about why artists create music and the power of music and lyrics. Practicing for Remembrance Day has shown some great examples of music with a powerful and important message. The grade 4s and 5s have also been looking at how music is organized and some features of music, although we are looking forward to learning more! We have been practicing identifying genres, instruments and moods/feelings of music. Try it when you are listening to the radio at home! What instruments do you hear? What moods do you feel? What makes you feel that way?
The grade 2s and 3s have been tapping in to rhythm! We can clap back rhythms and recognize some simple rhythm patterns. We have even been writing and sharing our own rhythm patterns! I think our favourite activity so far has been playing pass the rhythm with instruments and practicing playing instruments while watching for cues! Try playing pass the rhythm at the dinner table, how do your family members do?
