This year marks my last in the elementary program. It feels strange, this part of my journey has gone by so quickly. I am very excited to be a certified teacher, it's what I've dreamed of since I was a little girl and now it is just around the corner! My cohort has become a second family and it will be strange not to see them everyday. However, I am excited to see what they go on to do in their classrooms and I know we are all connected through the wonders of technology. We will forever be sharing ideas and experiences whether that happens over Facebook or coffee remains to be seem!
The last full semester of coursework is rapidly coming to an end and the excitement of practicum is in the air! I have taught grade 6 and grade 1 and now am eager to see what awaits in grade 3. Starting a practicum for me is a lot like Christmas morning, the excitement and anticipation. The best part is meeting my mentor teacher and students, I can't wait to get to know them! My head is swirling with lesson and unit ideas, all that I've learned from university and tricks of the trade that have been shared by colleagues. I love to imagine how my students may react or respond to different ideas and activities, the connections they'll make to their lives and the new learning they will take away. I don't want to forget these moments, I want to be able to look back over all these experiences that make up where I am at that moment. I may not be able to commit to blogging every day but I think I am up for the challenge of once a week. This blog is a way for me to curate my experiences in the classroom and share it with students, parents, colleagues, friends and family.
